Architectural Detail: Plywood Ceiling : Remodelista

I've got to be honest. I kind of like it. I've seen plywood used on floors for years for a creative modern mix of texture. With the right finish you could even substitute particle board here. The Marcus Beach House by Bark Architects CONTEMPORIST

Of course, beach houses are always gorgeous. I feel like this one has a certain floating tree house look to it. I love the materials used for the structures wall. It makes you feel like the house has a minimalist impact on it's environment. However, I don't know how this would hold up in a harsher climate with the lack of insulation. I really think that's the next hurdle builders need to start looking at, is how to provide structures with minimal ongoing cost for maintenance.
